There is a new challenge coming up from perles-dentelles.com blog involving leaves.
I have entered it, since I love flowers and leaves.

In March, there was a workshop for a circular brick stitch bracelet but I didn't want a bracelet so I made a necklace.  Here is a picture of Coco's bracelet.

If you would like to see the work and interpretation of the other participants, you can visit the blog at this site: Coco's Brick stitch bracelet .

Unfortunately, since I didn't follow their instructions (it wasn't exactly clear, plus everything was in French), they wouldn`t post my necklace because that wasn't part of the workshop so I decided to post it here on my blog.

I did start out with the intension of making a bracelet, but the circles demanded to be big, bold and colorful and I didn't want a huge sized bracelet. Oh well.... 😊

Do you like circular brick stitch ? Do you know how to make it ? The basic stitch is not hard but I did have a very hard time finding any information on how to add partial circles on the sides and on top.

If you want a good tutorial for circular brick stitch, I would recommend Laura Zeiner's tutorial on Etsy Laura Zeiner/StickLizardDesigns.
When I first posted Laura's necklace as an example of what I wanted to do, I ommited Laura's name as the designer, but only because I didn't think about it at the time and immediately corrected that mistake once I realized it.
I got a lot of greif and was even unfriended because people thought I wanted to copy/re-engineer the necklace but if you knew me, you would know, that is not my style and I don't like wasting time figuring out other peoples' designs.
All I wanted to know was the technique. Some friends defended me and one good hearted person came to my rescue, my friend Julie Riecher Vasquez. Out of the goodness of her heart, she saw my predicament and after I explained to her privately what had happened she sent me the tutorial, as a gift, even though I didn't ask her for it or expect it. I will always be super grateful to have such a lovely friend.

Hi All !

I don't post a lot of things on my blog but every now and then I think a blog is the best place to display your work.

This week I finished a netted necklace designed by Sandra D. Halpenny (sandrahalpennybeading.blogspot) called Daisy Drops necklace which I decided would be an excellent present for my mom's birthday which is coming up in 1 week.

It's thanks to her that I got started beading and I am nothing if not thankful that I discovered this wonderful hobby of mine and that she enabled me to learn and develop my skills...

I decided to give it to her yesterday and she is thrilled with it. I made sure to make it as monochromatic as possible, since I know she prefers that type of color scheme. I myself am usually more prone to using a couple of color combinations but I must admit that I like the result of colors of this necklace very much and it looks great on my mom ! (even if I do say so myself) At least it put a big smile on her face which is worth more than words.

Have a wonderful week !

Hi everyone ! I've been playing around with my beads this past week after working on a pendant for my sister in-law which is in black and silver. I'm not a fan of beading in those colors so I really wanted to play around with the same design but with different colors. Here is what I came up with...

and here is a selfie :

I still haven't finished the black and silver one yet....
Have a wonderful weekend !

New blog

Last month I decided to enter the latest challenge on a French blog by Coco "Perles Dent'Elles" http://perlesdentelles.canalblog.com/archives/2014/07/06/30201443.html

I have been following this blog for many years now and every now and then they have a challenge for beaders where we are given a motive and everyone uses their own imagination. We are given a deadline and then Coco puts up all our creations and it's so delightful to see what everyone else came up with.

This time we were given a pattern of a necklace and here is the one I made. I just changed the original colors.

Here is the middle of making the necklace...

I'm really happy with the final outcome. I'm especially happy because my youngest daughter liked it and wanted to wear it. Usually she doesn't want to wear the things I make as they are more suitable for older women and she's a teenager.
